Marketing Manager, 3rd Party Marketplace

Product lines include a wide selection of high quality consumer electronics and home appliances. As DOD Marketing’s brand continues to grow in revenues, we are presented with an opportunity to expand our sales channels to 3rd party Marketplace platforms. The Marketing Manager will serve as the key resource in charge of sales and marketing plans for all Marketplace activity within DOD. Incumbent will be responsible for learning and understanding all consumer products, as well as developing relationships with all major Marketplace platforms. These platforms include, but are not limited to, Amazon.com, eBay, Overstock.com, uBid, Marketworks, etc.

This individual will be an expert in analyzing the competitive landscape and understanding e-commerce analytics and tactics. He/She will be the thought leader in merchandising and rigorous reporting, and will promote better decision-making by the sales and procurement teams.

This Marketing Manager will:

  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the $10 million per year DOD Marketplace portfolio
  • Work with Supply Chain and Purchasing departments to identify product to sell through Marketplace accounts, photograph and obtain all necessary set-up information.
  • Maintain relationships with all Marketplace platforms, establishing daily or weekly contact with all account representatives, acting as DOD liaison.
  • Monitor success of items to ensure profitability of items sold, expanding offering to include more profitable items and less unprofitable items.
  • Work with purchasing teams to ensure inventory availability to satisfy budgetary goals for the program.
  • Supervise Marketplace Customer Service function by overseeing handling of all emails and phone contact related to transactions. Ensure that customers have a good experience when dealing with the DOD brands.

Candidates for the position of Marketing Manager should possess:

  • Ability to lead projects effectively across multiple departments and technology groups
  • Experience with hands-on leadership techniques
  • Substantial industry experience and a proven history of success; i.e., the ideal candidate will be someone that has knowledge of various 3rd party Marketplace platforms. He/She will be knowledgeable about acceptable ROI rates and marketing levers to increase traffic and Web analytics.
