After 10 years as a N.Y. Giants offensive lineman and a 1986 Super Bowl win, Benson has grown his N.J.-based Hyundai dealership to takeover the No. 2 spot, out of 800 total dealers across the United States. Benson’s irreverent marketing style has created a cult following among customers and potential customers and has reached one of the most challenging markets.
“People typically make the decision to buy and actually purchase a car within 48 hours,” Benson said. “It means staying focused and not giving the store away, even with long-term customers.” Also helpful, has been the process-oriented nature of his dealership and principles he’s leverage from his years of playing sports.
